Parkfield Community School: A Look at the Spin Designed to Undermine Parents

Moffat_Indoctrination_PREVENTPiersHewittClarkson.png

The previous detailed pieces analysing what is being taught as part of No Outsiders demonstrate there are fundamental problems with the programme. A summary of the issues with Andrew Moffat and his civilising mission can be found here.

Much of the mainstream media response to parents questioning the materials being taught at Parkfield Community School in Birmingham has entailed spin and ultimately, a dismissal of parental rights and concerns. These concerns include PREVENT underpinning contentious teaching material that is mainly aimed at Muslim children, and the fact that the material itself seeks to actively reconfigure the religious beliefs of not only Muslim children but the whole community.

The elephant in the room is conveniently ignored: state-backed interference into the private sphere.

What dominates is spin designed to frame Muslims as backward, intolerant and bigoted.

Andrew Moffat and Parkfield School: A summary of the Concerns Around No Outsiders

Moffat_Indoctrination_PREVENT.png

This piece summarises the previous five articles on No Outsiders. I have linked them within the summary below.

Moffat targeting the Muslim Community

Full version with complete references and more details can be accessed here.

According to Schools Week, Moffat “promptly got a job in Birmingham with majority Muslim and Afro-Carribean Christian parents” after “teachers told him it was easy to preach from a predominantly white area”. He then targeted “a school that was 99 per cent Muslim pupils in an area heavily affected by the so-called Trojan Horse plot to radicalise pupils”. Moffat saw Muslims as a challenge to be overcome for the distribution of his syllabus and his civilising mission.

Moffat’s Support

Aside from the usual media and political backing, Brigid Jones and Colin Diamond have both backed No Outsiders. Both, in differing ways, fuelled the notorious, Islamophobic Trojan Horse conspiracy theory in 2014.

Disturbingly, Jones is accepting of taking a “subliminal” approach to developing Muslim “resiliency” by subtly promoting different family setups. Moffat’s support comes from someone who is “fine” with secret brainwashing.

Ex-Muslim Yasmine Mohammed praised Moffat. Moffat reciprocated this with his gratitude to her before condescendingly claiming that the protesting parents “do not understand” the No Outsiders project. Yasmine’s circle closely aligns with deplorable neocons and their enablers including Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Sam Harris, Maajid Nawaz, and other “ex-Muslims” who believe Islam should be legislated against and the Hijab should be banned.

Unsurprising, support for Moffat also came from PREVENT.

Promoting Gender Transitioning to Children

Moffat’s suggestive material continues. Gender transitioning is controversial, with concerns accentuated in the context of children.

As part of the lesson plan, Moffat proposes showing young children a BBC programme that follows a young child undergoing social transition. The programme makes unequivocal, partisan statements which have the effect of proselytising ideas to children and is tantamount to indoctrination.

Andrew Moffat and Parkfield School: Proselytising and Indoctrinating Part 2

Moffat_Indoctrination

Continued from Part 1.

No Outsiders explicates themes around transgenderism and gender deconstruction to young children. Much of the discussion and concerns of parents have glossed over this topic under the catch all “LGBT” acronym.

Transgenderism has become prominent in recent years, rapidly becoming a battleground for the culture wars between the left and the right along with mini battles taking place between Catholics and transgenders, Anglicans and the left, and the left and the left. It is all a bit of a mess.

Muslims are being pulled into this political discussion through CVE/deform Islam discourses, and as the previous part of this article shows, No Outsiders is thoroughly embedded in this demonising framework.

It is important for Muslims to therefore forge their own understanding around this issue using the moral foundations of their faith before examining what Moffat is preaching.

We have examined how LGBT topics have been co-opted by Moffat into PREVENT and its demonization of Muslims, and how his project – No Outsiders – is being coerced through misleading invocations of law thereby circumventing the parental right of withdrawal.

This piece will focus on the content promoted through No Outsiders and show how Moffat is actively undermining the religious beliefs of young Muslims in different ways on a mass scale.

Part 1: Andrew Moffat and Parkfield School: Weaponizing LGBT Against the Muslim Minority

The saga at Parkfield Community School continues as hundreds of parents withdraw their children from the school. In typical fashion, none of the mainstream media has yet to comment on the insidious way Andrew Moffat and Hazel Pulley have used PREVENT to weaponise the LGBT agenda to perpetuate structural Islamophobia.

Moffat, employing a clandestine approach protracted LGBT topics through PREVENT and the Equality Act 2010.  Whilst the Equality Act smokescreen seems ostensibly unproblematic, a deeper analysis of the proposed teaching material highlights problems.  There is indeed strong evidence for parents to be rightfully concerned about what is being taught, and in particular the way it is being taught. This, however, will be the subject of the next piece.

In this piece, we will examine how Moffat bases his teaching material on a contentious application of the Equality Act, which results in misleading claims being made to staff and parents.

Andrew Moffat and Parkfield School: Weaponizing LGBT against the Muslim Minority

Moffat_PREVENT.png

The weaponization of LGBT concerns is not new in the West.  In 1994 the US military reportedly sought to develop a “gay bomb” that would be spread by the Air force behind enemy lines. The aim was ultimately to increase distraction and reduce military efficacy.  In the runup to the 2003 Iraq invasion, the CIA floated the idea of shooting a fake video of Saddam cavorting with a teenage boy. The aim? Destabilisation of his regime. More recently, Israel has been using LGBT promotion as propaganda to deflect focus from the suffering of Palestinians.

This mode of abusing a contentious issue to cause disruption in pursuit of an agenda seems to be surfacing in a recent set of events in the Saltley area of Birmingham.

Once again, the area has become ground-zero for Muslims becoming the subject of national debate.  Per the norm with such “debates”, the negative framing sees Muslims couched as the regressive aggressor battling enlightenment, equality and the “victim”; in this case a white gay headteacher who is, he professes, merely teaching what is law.
